JUNE 2021: Vulfpeck, Music Festivals, Poster Season, Root Beer, and more…

Where does the time go!? It’s friggin’ June already!

It’s probably been about a month since you’ve heard from me. I’m doing well, thanks for asking! May was great - the printing business is slowly starting to return to normal, and even during the slower times, I’ve managed to stay productive and get a few house-cleaning things done. We had a small crowd in-house for our first live music show since the start of COVID: Steve Leaf featuring Emilee Petersmark.

I also took a (long) weekend and went to Ohio for a little getaway. We were in the Hocking Hills area, and although I for most of my life I thought that Cleveland and Cedar Point were the only things keeping Ohio on the map, this place was actually really cool too.

ROOT BEER

I don’t know if you know this about me or not, but I don’t do booze. No beer, no wine, no liquor… no coffee even - although I have tried that last one, I just think it tastes like dirt, and there’s no getting around it! Anyway - I’ve always just been more of a ‘soda’ guy. I’ve had hundreds of root beers in my lifetime - it’s one of my favorite flavors. It solid, and I would dare anyone to argue differently. Creamy and frothy, fizzy and crisp - and it even goes great with a scoop of ice cream. In fact, bring me some vanilla ice cream some afternoon - I’ll cook us up a couple root beer floats and we can talk about how paper is measured or something equally as boring.

If you put an order in and want to get a cold can of root beer (or any other Faygo flavor that I’ve got in the fridge), just let me know and I’ll have one waiting for you when you come to pick up your job!!

Trivia Tuesday!

Congrats to April’s trivia winners - Jagged Little Bill. It was Rachel’s team (with Steve and Rob). We sort of saw that win coming - Rachel is a 90’s junky, and (among other things) a ‘Saved by the Bell’ specialist. For that reason, I didn’t put any Saved by the Bell questions on the test. It didn’t matter.

This month’s trivia is “Music Festivals.” I’ll be featuring questions about all-things ‘festival’… Coachella, Lollapalooza, Woodstock, Bonnaroo, and more. Get out the old scrapbooks, check your ticket stubs, and let’s take a trip down memory lane. I’m hoping a lot of people are going to be excited about this, so sign up now! Get your team together, come up with a funny name, and sign up in advance - only 10 teams can play!

Only let 10 teams play each game, so I want to make sure that everyone who wants to play, can.

June Playlist: featuring Vulfpeck!

This month’s playlist is packed full of great “Music to Print to,” from Vulfpeck, Theo Katzman, James Vincent McMorrow, Ben Howard, Clairo, and more.

Vulf was born right here in Michigan (at the U of Mich to be specific). They’re a funk group who is making all the right noise. If you don’t mind me bragging a little, I once did a song with Vulfpeck… I think it was 2012 or ‘13… at the Earthwork Harvest Gathering. There is a video somewhere, I’ll see if I can dig it up. Here’s the song - I did the Steve Jobs’ part.

It’s poster season

Bands are getting back to the old days of gigging, and they need to be able to let fans know where they’re going to be playing. This is where I come in - Bill Chesney, poster-printing-wild-man. Charmed, I’m sure.

I’m offering up $0.75 posters all month long. I’ll do 1 for $0.75 or 100 for $75… as many or as few as you want. I should mention while we’re talking about it - I do offer some KILLER deals for bands, all year long. Check out what you can get for $20. There is a small catch on those offers - you have to have a new album out… and you have to give me one!

Ice Cream Contest

If you like ice cream, this time of the year is primetime… I’m hitting the local Frosty Boy OFTEN, and there is NOTHING wrong with that!!

I’ll be running a contest the week of the 18th, and all you need to win is tell me where your local ice cream spot is and what they’re scooping up for you!!

One lucky winner will take home $50 ice cream bucks to their favorite spot!! That’s a lot of cones - hope you’re ready.

Be well. See you soon.

Bill
